Position Overview
Horizon Software & Services is seeking a skilled and motivated Business Analyst to support the continued evolution of our AllPoints policy administration platform for the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
As a Business Analyst at Horizon, you will work closely with insurance clients, internal stakeholders, and development teams to define clear, actionable requirements that drive meaningful business outcomes. This role plays a critical part in translating business needs into well-structured user stories, documentation, and test scenarios that support efficient, high-quality software delivery.
This position reports to senior product or delivery leadership and works as part of a collaborative cross-functional team.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document business and functional requirements for client projects and product enhancements.
- Translate business needs into user stories, use cases, process flows, data flows, and report mockups.
- Facilitate requirements workshops, working sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Partner with developers and QA to clarify requirements and support successful implementation.
- Ensure proposed solutions improve business efficiency and align with existing system capabilities.
- Assist in planning and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including test case development and validation.
- Support defect triage and troubleshooting by providing subject matter expertise.
- Maintain documentation and traceability within Azure DevOps.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of internal business analysis standards and practices.
- Travel as needed (approximately 10%).
Qualifications
- 3–7 years of business analysis experience within the Property & Casualty insurance industry.
- Experience with policy administration systems (Commercial lines experience preferred).
- Strong understanding of Agile/SCRUM methodology.
- Hands-on experience writing high-quality user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Ability to model business processes using tools such as Visio.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience using Azure DevOps, Excel, PowerPoint, and related tools.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Team-oriented mindset with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and business teams.
Education
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.
- CBAP certification is a plus.
- Insurance designations (e.g., CPCU) are a plus.
